A good handyman saves you money and nerves — a bad one multiplies costs. Here is a proven routine for when several offers arrive on your task.
Step 1. Look at reviews, not just the price
Rating and reviews are the main signal. A provider with a 4.8 rating and a dozen reviews who asks 50,000 more is almost always a better deal than a newcomer with a suspiciously low price. Read the review texts: "came on time, cleaned up after himself" says more than five stars alone.
Step 2. Judge the offer itself
- Specifics: "I will replace the tap tomorrow after 3 pm, 180,000 UZS" is a good sign.
- Relevant questions: a professional clarifies details before starting, not midway.
- Generic phrases like "I'll do everything well and cheap" with no detail deserve a closer look.
Step 3. Red flags
- Asks for prepayment "for materials" before starting — discuss only receipt-based purchases.
- Cannot give even a price range before inspection.
- Rushes your decision: "this price is today only".
- Suggests leaving the platform before contacts unlock.
Step 4. Agree on everything upfront
Before work starts, fix: what exactly is included, whether the price is final or "from", who buys materials, the timing, and what happens if something goes wrong. A couple of messages is enough — what matters is that the agreement is explicit.
Step 5. Pay on acceptance
Pay after accepting the work. Check the result while the handyman is still there: run the water, flip the switch, open and close the doors. And leave a review — it helps the next customers and honest professionals.
